View Full Version : cable guard squeak on jaguar

I just purchased a jaguar, my first trip out I have a squeak comming from the cable guard whenever there is any moisture on it, (rain, morning dew, condensation) the only time it does not squeak is when it is completely dry, which is really hard to do this time of year in Oregon. Any ideas?

Cleaning the cable rod and slide with alcohol can helps, but your best option is to replace the slide with a teflon one such as made by Simms. This will eliminate any chatter you may have had when the rod gets wet, too.

Before you spend the money on a new teflon guard by SIMS try a little graphite on the slide and see what that does. I own a Phantom and had the same problem and I also live in Oregon (Roseburg) and have to deal with the moisture situation also. If the graphite doesn't work then the teflon guard is another low cost cure.
