On the Martins, the limb bolts go into a barrel nut. On one side they are flat, notched on the other. What's the notch for? Also, both are threaded is this for a set screw to lock the limb bolts?

it's to mount a martin 2 piece quiver to the bow.

Don't know it for certain, but I would assume another function would be for rotating them back to the proper orientation should they come loose.

I don't understand this. The limb bolts go through the barrel nuts, how can they rotate?

the slot & threads are for mounting 2 piece quiver & noughthing else !
