Here's some barebow pics. It will probably be another month before I get her up and shooting. I'm taking it slow, I have some stuff on the way. Specialty Archery
1/4 Large Peep in black, Aperture kit #5, plus a Peep reducer. My Stabilizer will be the Response from Paradigm Archery. Probably around 30 inches Plus some offset bars around 12-14 inches. I'll be adding a Adjustable Doinker Offset bracket. I'm still working on a blade rest. The most expensive and last thing I'll get is the DS sight plus Specialty Archery 1 5/8 Scope with some lenses. Anyways, That's what I have planned. Oh I forgot some new strings from Hutch. I'm thinking Red with Yellow. I have the 60 pound limbs on it. The factory tag states 58.6. I'm gonna have it down to 55 pounds. The finish looks great and she feels so light. I'm not in a hurry I want to do it right the first time.

what do you think of a duct tape handle?

That sure is pretty. I'm glad to see they used black roto cups and hardware and not green. Too bad they couldn't make the Martin logos on the limbs in the same color as the riser. That would be icing on the cake.

Watch those BowJax dampers. Both sets I tried got cut in half so I went to whiskers.

bfisher
02-24-2012, 05:32 AM
Man, that's just what I plan to order. Yeah, it'd be nice of the limb logos matched the riser. And as much as I find the strings to be of good quality those green/black would get replaced real quick.

And as much as I find the strings to be of good quality those green/black would get replaced real quick. I agree, the flo green looks out of place on a red bow. A simple black/grey sat would look good on all the target colors. Of course if they made matching sets, say red/black for a red bow that would be going the extra mile for their customers. I wonder who many Scepter V they will sell in a year?

I actually like the feel of a thin grip. it was getting cold while I was outside holding it. I did order that kevlar shooting glove. I'm gonna see how it feels with a shooters glove on. I could easily wrap it if needed for some warmth. I'm sending in a string order to Bill right now. I think the normal thing to do would be to match it with the color of the riser. I figure that a lot of people will be doing the same thing so I'm doing the opposite. I'm gonna ask Bill if he can mix and add most of the Florescent colors on the strings...It's gonna be loud. It's gonna be for target only. The primary and secondary colors with differ from the serving. All different colors.

I just placed the order in for the Specialty Archery 1/4 Peep, Aperture kit #5 and the Peep reducer. It's gonna be awhile until i get the target sight. I'm gonna use my old Vital gear single pin sight temporarily to get a rough sight in. I'll be taking the bowjax off, i won't need it for target

I am thinking of setting my extra Shadowcat up to shoot bowhunter freestyle with, just for the heck of it.

Sorry Don. I have a Vital gear Single pin slider. it's the sight I had on my PSE bow when i slid down a canyon and ate gravel. I don't think it's 100% accurate due to the fall. I was gonna use it just for rough sighting ins.

I found it on Ebay and offered a price on a 36" Ultralite Stab from Specialty Archery. He said yes. It's used but I got it at a really great price. Now i just need to find a 12" side rod and V bar adapter.

Do you think its bent? Would'nt be any other reason for it to be inaccurate. Bought a used HHA OL 5519 off the AT classifieds, and the scope mounting bracket was slightly bent, dissasembled it and put the bent part in the vise, and tapped it a few times with a 2lb hammer, straightened right up, works as smooth as the bought new HHA does. Look it over carefully, that mounting bracket is the weakest point in those type of sights. Here's the before and after pics, you'll notice the bend, and most likely if your's is bent , you can feel it as you move the slider up and down.

It was slightly bent. I had already bent it back as flush as possible the day after i fell. it seems to be alright.

I couldn't resist not shooting it. I received my blade rest from Barry. Thank you Barry!. I placed the Vital bow gear Startrack single pin slider on. I added a D-loop. I'm still waiting on my Specialty Archery Peep sight kit to arrive. The 35" stab I bought off of Ebay is on it's way. I took the bow out for a dozen shots. I'm not used to using a Blade rest, so the shaft kept falling off. ;) Once i got the hang of it I was shooting just fine for not having a peep attached. I wanted to get a feel for the shot. She is smooth too!. She's around 58-59 pounds. I'm gonna let it down to about 55 pounds once i get my other orders in.

Hey, that rest looks slightly familair Simon. Hope you like it. Good golly man, you're gonna have a ton wrapped up in accessories.

I finally, after three weeks got hold of my sales rep this morning. He was working a show somewhere. He's been very very busy and told me he's working his way down the list to me so I can order my bow, I told him to just mail me the paperwork, catalog and distributor price list. I'll fill it out and send it back. It sucks having to do it this way as he only lives 35 miles from me, but hey, a guy has to do what he has to do. And I can't blame him. He has a job to do. Usually I order my bow the first week of November. I put it off this year---apparently too long.

How about doing me a favor. Set the modules for the shortest setting and measure the draw length. I need 27" give or take 1/8". If the bow comes in too long I'll have to look at another model.

Simon, after our talk yesterday I got to thinking. Thinking about one detail pertaining to the draw length. Compare the cam orientation to your Scepter and those of my Nemisis and Alien Z. In comparison your cams appear to be over rotated quite a bit which would account for the draw length being long. Now I've really got to see my rep and get his bow from him to see how his is set up from the factory. I'd be willing to bet that setting the cam orientation to what I usually do would shorten that thing up about an inch.

You can try shooting yours as is, but don't be afraid to play with the cam orientation. Advancing the cams can slow the bow up some, but make it feel smoother on the draw. Of course this would shorten the draw, but you could always adjust this with the module and draw stop.

Check the a2a and brace height against factory specs and see what you get.

Just thought I'd bring this to your attention.

Barry

I have the Specialty Archery Pro Series XL Scope and Glow ring in transit too. I'm gonna get the lenses later on from a guy over on AT. He makes lenses made to order, 35 each, $65 for 2, $95 for 3. Plus I think Indoor spots is winding down and people are turning to 3-D. So I bought the glow ring for 3-D. The scope housing itself can be adjusted for 2nd axis.

Me too. I spent a little more on the Peep accessories so I save down the road. I bought the large peep so I can change the Internal Diameter of the peep depending on the shooting situation. That's what the different little apertures are for. If I need a larger peep down the road all i need to do is remove the Aperture. If i need to make the peep smaller, I can put in a different smaller aperture. The scope doesn't come with a lens, That's extra. I will order that later. I did buy the Glow ring which is removable. I bought the pin in green with a .20 single pin. I'll use that for 3-d. I will be using a 4x lens for Indoors. I also have the option of using a Varifier or Clarifier down the road if needed because of vision change. The scope can be adjusted for 2nd axis too. This is my first target only bow, So I'm a little pumped up about it.

I got her tuned at the shop today. She is smooth and a lot of fun to shoot. I'm still messing around with the I.D of the Peep I'll be using. It was really windy and I'm still recovering from sprained back with spasms. I haven't shot in such a long time that I couldn't hold the bow up as long as I normally could plus i was shacking like a wet dog stuck on an Iceberg. I love the feel of this bow. I chrono'ed her at approx. 251 fps per second. I have her down to 55-56 pounds. I forgot to have it double checked at the shop. After my mishap with the Nemesis, I'm Leary about checking the bows poundage. I still need to order one of those Hand held scales you you have Bill.
