Hey guys, customer dropped off a Martin Rage 2001 with z cams. Its an old bow but in really good shape (except the strings). So he asked me to put on new strings, tune it and Chrono it before and after. So I put it in the shooting machine and fired away. It only hit 233fps which was odd to me since it had a 29 inch draw. Then I built him a set of kiwi and tan/blk strings and set the bow up to specs. But not timed or completely tuned. Shot it again in the shooting machine 255fps cool. Now it was time to set the timing, tune it and find the sweet spot. Took a little time but the official speed of this old timer is 262fps. Not bad for a bow that old. Just think I haven't put any speed nocks on yet!!!;)

pretty good results good to know your strings will give a bow a little more speed............;)

Who knew upgrading to modern materials would give that much of an improvement. I wonder how old the old strings were and what type of fibers?

On the other side though I like those colors and will b getting a new set for my saber here b4 to long ;)

Hey Hutch what make speed nocks do you like to use?Hey Lung Buster, I use the typical brass nock covered in shrink tube.

what was the draw weight? or did i miss that part.No Carlos you didn't miss anything. I didn't mention it. It was lower pounds then specs due to the string. The bow is a 50-65lbs. It was not off by much. When I tested the bow I set it at 64lbs.

How much speed do you think you gain with the speed nocks? On average i know the bow and set up makes a difference.

It all depends on the bow. Some take alot of nocks and you can gain 5 to 8 fps. Some have gained more. But I believe the average is 3 to 5 fps. The last Pse I built has 16 speed nocks on it.
