It is recommended that a bear hair rest is installed on a Savannah longbow.
When installing the rest, is the existing leather rest removed or left in place?
Thanks,

There are many options for rests on traditional bows. You can use an elevated rest, or shoot off the shelf.
I preferr to shoot off the shelf as the arrow is closer to my bow hand. I typically use the soft side of velcroe to make my rest. The down side is that is has a tendancy to burn a little from the friction of the arrow. The up side is that it is quiet and cheap.
If you are going to use a Bear Hair rest, you should remove anything that is already on the bow, and clean the surface with alchol before you stick anything new on there. I have used the Bear Hair rests in the past and they do seem to work good.
Good luck!
