I really like Martin archery and I've always loved being the underdog. I planned on purchasing a 2013 alien , however there are only two pro dealers in my state and they are guys who work out of their homes. I won't be able to shoot before buying , and if I can't shoot it, I'm not going to buy it, it wouldn't make since. Is there anything I can do....

Maybe move closer to a Martin Pro dealer?

Just kidding there. I had a Martin Pro dealer just 10 miles from me, but he closed shop, retired. There are a few others around me, but not very convenient and much farther away. It kinda sucks. I just found out that there is one north of me about 15 miles, but not sure if he's a Pro dealer or not. The only thing I can suggest is to ask a few dealers around you if they could or would try to get one in for you to try.

Guys I'm sorry , my profile says I'm from Jacksonville , I live Mississippi now, we have 2 pro dealers here neither of them stock martin bows , they are per order only no returns. So I can't test shoot one. Maybe it's worth a shot in the dark

Looks like your phone dropped the call...if that was you that called back to leave a message the reception was too poor to make out a name or number

I say take a chance. I did (no dealer either) but not after doing a little pro/con research. Started w/ a saber upgraded to the onza. If you dont like it then resale it here.

I'm with Typically8. With my Onza I barely saw one at Cabela's, and then ordered one online. The Nemesis 35 I just set up for my brother in law is outstanding. If The Alien's specs are what you are looking for I say have a little faith brother, you won't be disappointed ;)

I have a 2009 Alien X and it is the sweetest shooting bow that I have shot quiet, dead end the hand, light, and quick. I can't imagine how much better the 2013 Alien is? I have compared the 2009 Alien to the Heli-M, and the Evo 7. It is a sweet little bow. You aren't taking a huge chance. It's too bad there isn't someone close to you in an archery club that has one to check out.

That's a hek of a deal on archery talk, but I want a black one . That's a really sweet deal, but that also proves my point, if I shoot it and don't like it , I'm out 200 bucks automatically, he sold that bow 200 less than value with accessories and its brand new .

the alien is the _hit!
it is that much better!

I would say try the alien, I would feel pretty dang confident that you will love the 2013 alien.
I don't think it's that much of a risk....it's that good of a bow.

hey dzsmith, As a new Alien owner... man I love this bow, I have said it before we all have different preferences. I thought I had a 2011 AlienX but its a 2010 AlienX (bought new not used) with barnsdale limbs and it shoots nice, its 72.6# pull but man does it shoot. I have shot the BT Experience, M-Chill and Creed some of the top bows in my opinion, I have shot other companies as well but didn't like them to mention, "Not talking crap about other bows". I never shot the 2013 Alien until I bought it then shot it, its my favorite bow now. I'm just giving my opinion, to bad you can't test it, neither did I but I got it anyway I have no regrets. Compared to the others I shot I paid less for an equal performing bow again my opinion. I put the rest of my money on accessories. The guy on AT selling for cheap idk he's just biased, based on his avatar shoots an elite and trying to make martin look bad by selling low, my opinion again. I shot an elite its ok but to slow for me. I'm not saying just buy it but if you do and don't like it I'm sure someone on here may snag it up from you maybe me lol.

The highlighted above is very true.............I really feel that you wouldn't be sticking your neck out on a Blind Alien purchase.

You will be paying cheaper than I did! but it don't matter I got an "Alien". Nemesis is awesome as well, heck all the line up is bad___! I haven't chronographed it yet but its quick. Everyone who replied you knows what their talking about, awesome bows! I put a spot hogg 7 deadly pins on mine thats how much confidence I have in the Alien.

I recently purchased a 2012 nemesis..LOVE IT!!!! Coming from a martin cheetah, speed is huge...comfort and hand shock are more huge! It shoots soooooo smooth. I am much more accurate with it vs. my cheetah. I don't think this is a risk.....only reward. I shot a nemesis at a local shop which was set up so poorly it almost ruined the sale...my trained eye saw the timing was waaaaay off and the stop was set so the letoff was at minimum.

Just buy it!
