i was going to drop my draw length to 27 inches from 27.5" on my alien x. every module bolt came out fine until the last one. i could not get that thing to budge. i snapped off the allen wrench in the bolt. i have tried everything i know and cant get it out for the life of me. i dont want to drill it out but that might be my only option. i know the bolt may be toast but i can get onother one of those. my main concern is the cam i do not want to damage it. if anyone has had this problem and has a solution please let me know it will be greatley appreciated.

come in from the side that didn't brake off unless you have left handed drill bits

thats what i was planning on doing if i can get the bit started on the end of the screw, ill start with a small bit then get larger until i can get it out i have an easy out i just need to get a hole that it can grab onto to remove the whole bolt then replace it. maybe i wont mess up the module. if so ill just replace it they are like $50 something bucks for a set of em and ill just have an extra.

Drill it from the backside. Screw size is 8/32" by 3x8.

Also remember to drill slowly. The harder the metal, the slower the drill speed. You can also wrap a wet rag around the drill area to keep the heat from getting to the cams as badly.

If you have a strong magnet, all you have to do to get the allen part out. 1 put the magnet on the allen, then lite taps to the backside of the screw. Should come out.

Glad that you got the bolt out, great thing about this board, about the only time this board can't help is with obselete equipment, and even then, sometimes some one will turn up with the old part, or fix. Welcome to the site! :D

when you install the new one put some bow string wax on the threads of the new screws

i will do that. will that keep the screws from getting bound up or whatever happened to the other one. i use the wax on my broadheads and field tips and it seems to make them snug but i have never had a problem removing them either.

Just make sure to put a thin coating on the underside of the screw head as well, not just the threads. I've had several that were galled on the module, but not overly tight on the threads.

ok sounds good the modules should be here by friday i just bought new screws too so i will probably replace all of them with new screws and coat them all just to be safe.
