Not sure if this is the correct forum for posting this message. Feel free to direct me. One of my shooting buddies has a Damon & Howatt Monterey 36#@28" with the following markings EMA1456 66". He is looking to sell it. It has been stored safely in a bow sock and appears to be in excellent condition. I have posted 3 pics below. Let me know if you are interested and/or feel free to advize on value. Just send me an email as I will receive emails on this site from other members. Again, if this is the wrong forum, please direct me.

My wife is looking ! What is he asking for it?

BH55 - He doesn't know what to ask. As a former Martin shooter who recognized the D&H and what excellent shape it is in, I told him I would research it for him. What do you think it is worth? He's a big burly dude that is not going to shoot a 36# bow. Good news is that it looks hardly used. I don't know the mfg date, but that bow sock protected it well. The original bow owner has passed and his wife gave it to my carpenter friend on a job. Make an offer and I'll be happy to see if I can connect the two of you. You are the first to respond. I just signed up for this site, posted on the traditional forum and then encountered the Classified Forum where I also posted it. If you want to talk to me, feel free to call me at 617-480-7676. I'm a straight shooter and there's nothing in this for me.

Search ebay Compleated auctions listings for an accurate idea of what folks pay for Damo Howatt 'Montereys'. If you register and post pics on stickbow.com's Leatherwall II, you can find Larry Hatfield, the man who made the bow, he'll tell you what year the bow was built.

elkslayer4x5 - thanks. I'm a LW member and will go that route. I was just checking here as I thought that Martin had bought-out D&H, and thus, this site would apply.

I sent a message to Larry Hatfield who made the bow and will likely tell me the year built and his thoughts on the value. I also corresponded with a guy named Howattman on the tradgang who said the bow is worth somewhere between $225-$275. After I hear from Larry and check with Randy, I'll give you a price to see if you are interested.

The site does apply, just now a well as other sites do. The Damon Howatt Monterey that you're showing is in ( as far as I can tell from your pics ) excellent condition. I did a compleated auction search on ebay, $225 for one not as nice, to $350 for one similar. Also, lighter draw weights usually bring a bit less. Have you found out what year it was made yet?

elkslayer - I still don't know the year but will let you know if/when I find out. Thanks for your feedback on price range. I'm going to let my friend know the value range and let him pick a price. Then he (or I might help him) sell it by; 1) reaching out to those who expressed interest, and 2) posting for sale on the Classifieds. I think that's the fair route as I would like those who helped get the first chance at it. All I want is for someone who wants the bow to end up with it and watch my friend turn it into a little cash to buy something he needs.

elkslayer - Larry Hatfield confirmed that this Monterey was born in 1971.

Man, I would love that bow!!! I have long arms, so it probably would be more like 40# I have a 29.5 draw. It sure is pretty. I can't do it though, with the Slayer coming my way. The wife would kill me. Hanging around this forum is hard on the wallet.

The buyer of this DH Monterey is going to be one very happy archer, if I could, I would! Would love to shoot field rounds with that bow!! It would be around 43#s at my 31" draw, pretty sure that I could shoot all 112 arrow of a field round with it, I shoot around 50 shots a day with my old Cougar, 45# @ 28" or 54# at my draw. :) Not too bad for a old 69 y o gomer! :D
