View Full Version : Limb Splinter

I have a 98 M70 Pantera. I found a small splinter in the top limb. The splinter is maybe 1/2 inch long at most. I called Martin and they said $100 to update the limbs. So here are my questions:
Is the bow safe to shoot?
Can the limb be repaired? I thought about using some sort of epoxy.
Any recomendations would be appreciated.

I've done this, but won't say whether you should. If it's a small splinter along the edge then just use a file and file it out. Then use some sand paper to kind of round out the edge. Then apply a little epoxy to that edge. Maybe it'll be a simple fix. Maybe not. You have nothing to lose. If it splinters again then you might be able to pick up a set of used limbs on AT.
Needless to say, if it splinters again then quit shooting it.

What is AT?

The bow is supposed to have a 10yr warranty. First Martin told me that it would be covered. Then changed their minds and said it would cost $100 because they no longer make the limbs for my bow. I hate to gripe too much but if I can get limbs cheaper somwhere else I would.
If anyone knows of anywhere I would appreciate it.

Try the AT classifieds.
AT is slang around here for archerytalk.com. Don't worry, I had the same question not that long ago;)
