As I understand it you need a minimum of 5 grains per #. So if I am shooting at 60# equals 300 gr. I looked on the Beman arrow chart for my cam and # and it showed the ICS hunter 400 (which is a good thing because my local bow shop sold me a few yesterday). On the arrow it says 8.4 gpi. So at 28 inches I calculate only 235.2 gr. Does that minimum include the point in the figure or do I have it all wrong?

Total arrow weight...point and all.

8.4 is shaft only, no insert, nock, fletching, point etc.

14 is usually pretty close.

You can do the math. 235 grains for the shaft. 15 for insert, 100 for point (?), 13 grains for nock, maybe average 30 for 4" vanes. Could total up to 393 grains or so.
