New cables or not

I'm planning on replacing the strings on my 08 Martin Cheetah and wanted to know is it necessary to replace the cables when replacing the string and if not how do you tell when the cables do need to be replaced? Honestly I didn't even know there was a cable on this bow, I thought it was one long string. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Yes,change them both at the same time,then they break in together....I say a year of use is enough if you shoot like a do,3-4 times a week,plus heavy hunting.
Some people go longer but that up to them.
