Is a replacement wood grip available to replace the factory rubber grip on the '08 Firecat (should be same as '09)?

It is possible. Maybe you should have a look at those aftermarket grip makers. Seem to do a great job!

If you like the grip as is except for the fact that it's rubber then Martin makes the Thermal Elite grip. It's virtually the same except uses wooden side plates and a self sticking leather pad on the front and back side of the riser. This is what I order on all my bows.

There turns out to be 2 wooden grips, this one:

Any experience with the latter?

The second one is on all of my bows.
I can only say: works fine.
I see no use for me in any leather strip around the grip as it does not feel good for me.
