How much gap, if any, should be between the string and the rubber stopper on a 2009 cheetah?

About 1/32" it does not need much.

I am assuming this is the same for the Firecat??. I am new to this forum and just purchased an 08 Firecat. Very sweet bow. I am looking forward to visiting with other Martin shooters, as there aren't very many in my area.

Should be able to barely sliide a credit card between string and stopper

It is one of the stoppers that has a deep grove in it so the string can't move side to side. This will prevent me from slipping a credit card between the string and the stopper, but I can probably eyeball it close enough. Thanks.

The ones on my bows are the same way, that is why I said 1/32", my credit cards mic 1/32.
