Getting back to the 2011 bows, I see the new limbs are called "PowerTough Limbs - Durable & Accurate", I have high hopes about the durable part. ;)

Quick - Lock Stabilizer Mount - With Integrated Quick Disconnect System

Just a standard quick disconnect that screws into the stabilizer hole or something else?

And the green strings have a name, "HammerHead".

Could be a very good year 2011. :)

I wonder about the new CCS - quess it'll be similar to the Bowtech's one. What do you think about it?

Montalaar
09-27-2010, 06:34 AM
As long as it is in a well made quality.. I do not like the BT at all. The best RG out now is the new one made by Mathews. It prestresses the string at rest and is llose at full draw resulting in a higher efficiency, less torque and lower limb stress...

alex
09-27-2010, 06:45 AM
Haven't seen it yet. Hope Martin will show a ccs with the same or better quality.

Wonder if the regular cable guard & slide will still be an option?

Let's play:

Guess the specs!

http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1325469

I'd say the Firecat 400 has a slightly shorter ATA than the actual Firecat. Maybe just around the same. I am pretty sure that it will replace the Firecat TR2 for 2011.

Firecat400:
ATA 32.5"
BH 7.5"
IBO 325 fps

The Onza 3 will be ..
ATA 36"
BH 8"
IBO 320 fps

What do you guess?

Montalaar

Just by the way. I took pictures of the 2010 models and measured the riser at different spots. After that i took the pics of the new riser and overlayed them, guessing the limb angle and calculating a bit.

Spiker

One of them will be the replacement for the Warthog.
Maybe the Cat 400 is a 40"ata...

Maybe the Cat 400 is a 40"ata...

Don't count on this, Scott :D I guess 400 stands for the fourth generation of Firecats - the original, the Pro-X, the TR2 and now 400 (unless there's one of which i don't know :) ).
Simon, let me try your game: Firecat 400 - AtA - 32", BH - 7", IBO - 350FPS
Onza 3: AtA - 36", BH - 7,5" IBO - 335FPS, 4.5lbs weight
Oh, and i hope Martin will add the present STS to this fancy new STS/CCS The bows will look great with double string stops.

I did send in a few pics from the last two years hunts with my Martins. They sent me a photo release, and said they are planning on using a pic or two in the new catalog. Felt pretty honored to have a pic used. Just hope I can keep sending them more they like. lol

Montalaar
10-03-2010, 05:32 AM
Me neither. I am a tad worried about that. At least until we got a close-up picture.

This thing has to be build very strong to withstand the forces. there is a big potential to it but only if it works as it should. maybe you remember the same thing made by Bowtech some years ago. The discontinued it due to problems.

alex
10-03-2010, 06:48 AM
I've seen string stops mounted on the cable rod before. The biggest problem i can see is that the stop may distract you while aiming. But let's wait a week more before judging.

Extra vibration/shock to the ccs. What about replacement rubber? The Saunders Deadly Quiet stop hasn't been popular at all. Interesting times ahead. :)

I just compraed the two pics of the full F400 and O3-Riser we got with the Riser of the FireTR2 and the Warthog.

The F400 is just about the same as the FireTR2. Maybe a little different around the limb pocket soe that we may get a less reflex bow but that is not really measurable with these pictures.

The O3 seems to be a tad taller than the Warthog. Furthermore it is not roughly as reflex as the Warthog. This will affect the BH which may be 1" more. Also the ATA may be somwhere between 35" and 37". Depending on the limb angle. ...

I was in the USAF and stationed near Iraklion. That was over 40 years ago so things have changed. I was a communications repairman. The site I was working at is now a NATO site east of town.

There we have the specs. Pretty close we were, eh? I am just waaaay off with the ATA on the O3. Too bad. I'd really like an O3 with a longer ATA for me.

I have been at the south shore of Crete so i know only the airport of Iraklion. Must have been a nice time for you if you had the time to start diving there.. ;)

Simon, don't want to brag about it, but i was closer ;) :D
By the way, there's something in the way the new bows look .... can't say exactly ... a sence that i'm at the dentist. I guess it's just me, but what do you think/feel?

bfisher
10-07-2010, 07:58 AM
If those end up being the actual specs I don't see me getting either. There just isn't that much of a change between the older FireCat and this one. As for the Onza? More like a Nemisis with slightly different cutouts in the riser.

I'm still waiting to see about the torque reducing cable guard. I could care less about the string stopper. Guess I'll just wait and see what the rest of the lineup looks like and/or wait on a new Rytera.

Montalaar
10-07-2010, 08:10 AM
Yeah, realized that, too, Alex. I'm not sure where i miscalculated. But the dark side is always strong within you.

I have to agree with you, Barry. It is just the same as the old ones. Slightly different design. And i am still not convinced by this Cable/string tamer thing.

alex
10-07-2010, 08:50 AM
Sorry for the late reply, but i was busy fixing my ominous black gas-mask.
Don't you think the VEM on the upper part of the riser of the Onza looks like an uvula? :D I can't say about the new sts/ccs - the pictures are too small. Hope it will work well, because the idea of reducing the limb torque is great.

And wondering about the ccs, looks like it mounts on a round rod. Maybe it can rotate?

Montalaar

2 days left. Sunday is Dday.

I am pretty sure that the only bow i could use this year is - again - the ShadowCat. New String tamer and new Quicklock but no further changes. I hope they will have some more colors available. I'd like an orange ShadowCat.

Weeeee~

I finally understand the new SOS/TRG System.

And i HATE it.

http://www.martinarchery.com/at/onzafirecat1.jpg

To the left of the TRG and SOS logo you can see how they are designes from the top. The TRG will fit onto the Carbon rod that fits into the riser. The small hole in the middle will contain the set screw to fasten it. THe long part to the right of it will contain the cables so that they can slide around. The small holes to the left of the TRG will take screws to hold the SOS. It will be fastened by two screws that fit into the elongates holes of the SOS so you can adjust it.

That makes it three screws just to hold that thing. And 2 more to keep the Carbon rod at the riser. I don't like so many screws.

Yeah, you're right about the construction. I can't say how it'll work before i see it and this won't happen because our dealer still has some 2007 models which can't be sold. Will wait to see your reviews and reports, guys :)

:D That's right, Spiker! When i want speed and accuracy i shoot my MOAB, when i just need a simple pleasant shooting for fun, without worrying about all those gadgets, i take my trad bows.

Agree too. Seems to be gimmicky stuff, more complexity, more problems. Like Monty I hate it, maybe there still will be an option to use a standard cable guard rod and slide. Btw, I think the whole sts string stop is just a fad, my bow is quieter with catwiskers.

What is the chances that a simple finger shooting bow will be in the 2011 line up?

Montalaar

Where did you get the info ? I'm pretty sure there will be a Shadowcat like bow in the 2011, but don't know if it'll be a shadowcat 2011 just with new feature (SOS, TRG, etc) or a new bow ? in any case I'll but it :D

Montalaar
10-09-2010, 12:46 AM
Pretty sure it is a ShadowCat with the Quick Disconnect, Nitro Cams and maye this new freaking TRG-toy.

I hope there will be some more cool target colors. I am really bored by the Titanium. After around 8 months. Orange, green or a ProCat would be really nice.

d00ud00u
10-09-2010, 02:50 AM
titanium ? I saw your pics on AT, isn't your shadowcat in hunter black instead ?

Montalaar
10-09-2010, 03:22 AM
One is Carbon and one is Titanium. It looks a bit black on one of those pictures. The hunter black was much better than the titanium but i ordered it before anyone had one. Unfortunately you wont be able to get that black at this point of time anyway. So i hope they have great new colors for 2011.

d00ud00u
10-09-2010, 08:15 AM
Why Martin won't let the hunter black color for 2011, it was their best color ? I really hope the hunter black will still be available for 2011.

Montalaar
10-09-2010, 08:47 AM
I am pretty sure that they'll have a hunter black in 2011. They were not satisfied with the company that colored the risers for them in 2011 so they stopped all the powdercoating colors. The ShadowCat was available in Carbon, Skullz and Camo only after that.
