Hi guys, I am a string maker. I am not posting for business but rather an important question.

I have a guy who wants me to make a set for him for his Martin Saber.
Everything I try to look up online and in the Martin website tells me that
The Saber is a Single Cam bow. He wants strings for a dual cam bow. So I am a bit confused...

He gave me the lengths of the string and cables, but I don't know if this uses Buss cables or Control cables?
He says it has the new hybrix cams - not sure what that means though.
I am asking the group if there are any ideas or thoughts on this subject.

Unless he has swapped out the original single cam for the Hybrix, (which are Rytera's cams), I'd guess he's just giving you the wrong information. Might try asking him to send a pic, then post it on here. It'll give us all a better idea of what you are dealing with. Hope this helps.

Sounds like he either has a bow that someone swapped cams on or there is some confusion as to the cams he has. The Saber was available with the Tru Arc hybrid cam back in 06, but has only been available with a single cam system since then.

If it does indeed have the Rytera Hybrix cams, those would use 2 control cables and the string, no buss cable. If it is the Tru Arc, it would have 1 buss, 1 control and the string.

What are the string and cable lengths he gave you ?

Not only what the other guys are saying, but you need to ask him if he has limbs design to handle the stress produced by the Hybrix cams. The Hybrix are the same as th Martin Cat and new Nitro cams and as such need limbs that have pins through the end of the limb forks for reinforcement. If he hasn't changed limbs then it's almost assured that the limbs will break.

The lengths he gave me are 55 1/8 for the string and 36 1/2 cables.
He never said what the cables were, he just said cables.

With the string length given, thats for sure a dual cam and with both cables being the same that rules out the Tru Arc cam.

The Firecat 400 with Nitro cams has a string @55 1/4" and cables @ 36 7/8", so it does sound like it may have had Hybrix cams swapped onto it. The Nitro and Hybrix are basically the same cam. If you want the serving specs for the FC 400 let me know, they should be close to what you need.
