What is the point of pin nocks? What brought them about?

They will save your arrows from the nock hunters. These are the guys that I shot 3d with . First arrow in the target is the aiming point for the rest of us.

With there solid bushing they will knock the next arrow of course. They will save your arrow from being the lead arrow in the "Robin Hood" . Thet add alittle of weight to the back of the arrow.

I have pin nocks on my deer hunting arrows. I wanted the added weight to get more KE and momentum. My arrows use a heavy half-outsert, (43 gr.), so with a 100 gr. head, that was 143 gr. up front. Good for FOC, but it was a bit too high to me. The pin nock helped balance the arrow better. Now I'm at about 17% FOC.

those are different. I can see how they'd be effective. I might have to try them. Thanks for the pic.

I don't have them I have bushings, but I would use them when I get new arrows. They certainly spare the arrows.

This small nock slides over the pin.

The other slides in the back where a nock goes and the little pin sticks out for the nock shown above.

Thanks MLN1963 I get it now... I can now see how these can save a few arrows. It's in hope of deflection instead of a Robin Hood type shot that would break the nock and the arrow?

My brother and I can attest to the usefulness of a pin nock. We both recently purchased GT UL Pro 22 arrows and had the pin nocks installed. We've both since split a nock each in half, with no damage at all to the arrow itself. It's saved me from having to replace 2 arrows already!
