Hi,

I have a Shadowcat, currently a 45-60lb bow, with a marked d/l of 27" on the limb. It is fitted with the Nitrous-X shoot-thru system. The cams are marked "A". The limbs are marked H6.

I have a AMO draw length of 30.5" - I need 29" from the string to the center of the plunger/arrowrest hole.

What cams and limbs do I need to get my draw length, and a peak poundage of 60lbs? I also wish to shoot with the standard Nitrous cams - I don't like the shoot-thru system.

I ask mainly because I have rung 2 dealers and both have said different things, and I'd really like to make the right decision! <smile>

Regards,

Michael

Micheal,

The Nitrous A cam can be adjusted to 30" simply by loossening/removing the screws in the cam and rotating the module..To get to 30.5" you will need to move to the next size "B" base cam..

Unfortunately, you will also see a drop in the peak weight of the bow by about 5#. You will need to move to a slightly heavier limb to maintain the current peak weight...

You will also need to purchase a new string set because the shooting string will need to be longer to make up for the larger cam...and seeing as you don't like the X system, you will need to purchase a set of split cables...

If you need any more info, feel free to ask!!

Hi Pug,

thanks for answering - I do appreciate it. I am delighted to hear I won't necessarily need to change the limbs at this stage - I don't really want to shoot 60lb, particularly as my other bow (an Old Glory) is only a 50lb. But that's another story.

After having a bit of a fiddle with the draw settings, I found the likelihood of a "C" cam being correct as somewhat remote, and just wanted to check from an expert.

Please don't think I've summarily sunk my boot into Nitrous-X. The fact is, I can't try it, as I shoot with what many call the Korean form - dead straight arm, collapsed chest, and all the rest. Shoot-through systems that I've seen aren't compatible with this form, as the cables foul the shooting arm something fierce. This is the predominant form being taught in Australia at the moment for recurve and compound archers.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

By the way, I can't locate string/cable lengths for Shadowcat with Nitrous cams on the Martin website. Could you help me out with a link to them?

Regards,

Michael
