Would BCY 62, .021 be good enough to re-serve it with, beings that's what I have? Any idea how long the serving is supposed to be, beings I took it off before I thought to measure; not even the sharpest of field points..... The cable, itself, looks undamaged. Hate buying a brand new cable; it IS a brand new cable. Thanks

And, I know the cam screws should be loc tited, but I plan to have to reset them as I bring my poundage up. I'll keep a sharper eye on them in the future. Sonny, the 'Insert Iron' is dry and I'm up to a full dozen arrows now!

Thanks, o

Had this person question me on vanes. If by him you "have to have" or your arrow won't fly or fly as well as they should.
Well, me gots this in my head. First, use your head. I'll use any dang vane I want and I will get good arrow flight. About the only vane I haven't tried is the Bohning Micro Blazer. Doesn't any difference the game either, not for me. I used Mini Blazers for indoors and long range. I've used Blazers fletched full helical out the 80 yards and no issues whatsoever. I've 4 and 5" vanes for indoors, Outdoor target, and Field. They both performed like magic.

Not wanting over steer and what I would call a unbalanced arrow, I do watch FOC. But! I've never seen the time I needed anything over 10% FOC for target or hunting. Some of my most accurate target arrows have FOC down to about 6%.

Actually, if the bow is set up correctly, it will fling a mulitude of arrows and different vanes with no effect or dang little. And I even tried that staggered stuff and different placement other than factory.

And then he related that I hadn't fletched a lot or I'd known better. Well, since I returned archery and started fletching for myself and at the shop....So for about 3 years straight I fletched a dozen arrows a week average and myself, there's a couple thousand. And then figure 7 years on my own and my testing, probably total around 5,000.

So I combined some pics to give some that I've done... You have to sort them out.

So the other day, I take my scepter out(black carbon finish, same for limbs) and start cleaning it, waxing the string etc... So it's sitting there and I'm looking at it. Suddenly I don't just see a bow but a canvas.
Keep in mind, theatrics aren't my thing. So this is a bit off the beaten path for me, I tend to prefer things simple, elegant. Back to the point. I shoot my bow pretty bare. A simple prong rest, a short stab and a wrist strap. So without a sight, quiver, large stab etc... there are a lot of unused threads. I started picturing some simple (and as lightweight as possible), coverings for the riser. The way I pictured it, they would fit right in the cut outs of the riser. You could strap those on, add wtvr design you might want. A bit like the kind of thing you might see on a harley and such.

Completely impractical I know but damn, that could really bring the "growl" out of our martins.

Hey, the thing works and for $20.00 new, and though made in China, I jumped on it. Don't know what was going on, perhaps a sales promotion is why the price and Presley's was selling them like hot cakes.

Small as it is it needs leveled a bit to give a more accurate reading and try to stay centered or use the same spot on that little pad. Takes 2 AA batteries and turns off automatic after so long.

Mine is called the Black Box. It is limited to 500 grs and if you try more you could burn it out. So a bit of care.

I still use my Homac magnetic dampened scale, but carry the Black Box with me to shoots. Never know when it might come in handy.

I know it's not a Martin so take it easy on me.
Been looking at the Anarchy since it came out but the price has kept me just looking. I got a killer deal on a new, in box 2011 so I bought it. The 11,12, and 13 all have the same specs and are currently selling for $899 everywhere so when I seen it for $430 shipped I jumped. Wanted to try a 35" ata, prefer split limbs, curious about the roller cable guard/slide, single cam, and figured why not. Gotta say so far I like it. Put my favorites on it, HHA 5510, Ripcord, and a Fuse Axium stab. I can tell you this thing is fast, quiet, light and well balanced. The draw is not as smooth as my Ridge Hunter but fairly close, the Bear has a slight "hump" where the Ridge Hunter doesn't. Got it sighted at 20 before it got dark and no disappointments in accuracy. It does however bury half the arrow in the targets.

Not overly energetic, but got out to try my Virtue HT3s again, I set these up first with Muddy's 100 gr glue-in points and they proved darn good. So messing around checked of FOC. It was a bit more than my HTA HT3s and I run these light of FOC, about 6%. So I tried the new 80 gr glue-in points from Muddy. And again FOC was more than the HTA HT3s. So I got to looking and the new pin bushings are different. The new glue-in points are also different, longer. Brain dead I guess because if the points are longer back in the shaft I'd think FOC would be lighter. Heck, I don't know.

Anyway, all put together the 80 gr points made the Muddy HT3s weigh the same as my HTA HT3s.

So I tried the new arrows from 30 yards, no warming up, and one was a tad low, but in the bull's eye and the second clipped the X ring at 10:00.
Wind began howling. Mercy, it was flat gettin' with it. So I moved up to 20 yard and the first couple of shots were grabbed by the wind, corkscrewing and flying sideways something awful.
I let the wind die down from then on and the Virtues flew true and true enough a vane was half stripped. So I took off the loosened vane and shot it. High corner of the X. I shot the second arrow and it was right with the 2 vane arrow. And I've done this so many times, purposely removed a vane and hammered the X ring.
So the arrows proved good and may get used this year. Got enough HTA HT3s to last for a while.

I feel like there is a thread for this somewhere, but honestly didn't want to dig it up and starting clean never hurts ;) Anywho ... Posted a couple times about considering an arrow swap for the coming season. I tend to go through almost a dozen a year it seems and I'm almost to that point with my last batch of GT Velocity (300). I found that my Bengal tuned better with the .300 spine vs the .400 and so I'm planning on sticking with the .350-.300 range. I was able to diddle with a trial of OT2 shaft selector and showed optimal spine was .340s - so that got me to looking around at what arrows would fit the bill and possibly allow me to shave some weight and pick up a little more juice.

Now I know there are guys out there that say you HAVE to have a 400+ gr arrow to shoot deer and I just laugh at it. With my ranges that I know I shoot, I'm plenty comfortable with a "lighter" arrow. I put 2 solid pass throughs at 20 and 30 yards with the Cheetah shooting 60# and a GT Velocity 400 that probably weight a touch more than 330gr. With the Bengal, I'm pretty confident I got a bit more push behind them arrows to get the job done.

I'm thinking I might just pick up a half dozen of whatever new arrow I pick up just to see how well they shoot and if I like them so I'm not out more money. If all is well, grab 6 more. So here is where I've come to in my search ... what does everyone think - if they've had experience with any of the shafts or would recommend based on what you've seen/heard/etc.

(All finished weights based on 27.5" shaft, might be able to go shorter, and corresponding components with 100gr points/bh. Need to do some more fine tuning with the Bengal in draw length etc once I get my elusive draw board built. All will be within 5gr per pound draw weight. Current arrow weight approx 385gr)

Victory VForce HV 350 - 6.8gpi - finished weight approx 325gr
Gold Tip Velocity 340 - 8.2gpi - approx 363gr
Black Eagle Arrows Carnivores - 7.5gpi - 346gr
Bloodsport (Muddy) HT2 - 7.9gpi - 353gr

From what I've seen so far, the BEA are going to be the most pricey (+$20-$25/half dozen) of the bunch. The others pretty much run about the same +/- $5/half-dozen. If I'm missing another arrow with similar spec, post it up and lets have us a chat ;)
