You can use pellet bags, lumber covers, grocery bags, carpet sleeves, mattress wraps, etc etc. Lumber covers make a good facing as well as landscape material.

i actually used a few memory foam pillows for stuffing also i get theses cardboard pieces from the cases of paint from my work, it save them up until i have enough to fill a paintbox and tape it shut and use that for a while, get about 1000 shots before the arrows start to pass through.

Just so everyone knows, we have a big target like this one. It is over 5 months old and we can say it has over 13,000 shots through it and it is still good to go.

When I was younger and went to catholic school I was always running out of things to shoot with my recurve and being into medieval things I came up with this idea. So I would take my old school uniform and sew up all the openings and then I would sew the shirt to the pants and then button up the shirt. Once this was done I would stuff straw down the clothes until they were stuffed and scarecrow looking. Once this was done I made a stand out of a 4x4 and some plywood so it had the shape of a cross. I then attached the scarecrow to the stand. Then I would take pizza boxes and stuff them with old phone books and then wrap them in duct tape. I would then take some rope and put it through the corners of the pizza box and tie it around the neck area of the dummy so that it made a kind of breastplate for it. It made for a fun target for a 12 year old and it lasted years with some strategic replacements of clothes.
