What do you folks (if it's legal in your area) put out for a mineral lick to strengthen the deer herd? I've had good luck with Trophy Rock and Buck Lickers 4lb bricks. Acorn and Sweet corn & molasses seem to work pretty well.

I quit putting out corn, cows like it alot, started with cattle salt,50lb bags will see how deer like it..........read alot of good things about this on AT.
Property I hunt has cattle on it, so there's already mineral and salt blocks out. None in the areas I hunt, but the deer have easy access to them. I figure the corn, wheat, beans, milo, clover, acorns, etc. is enough in addition to the blocks that I don't need to do anything else.
I dug up a 4 foot in dia area and put in a 50lb bag of of mortons melting salt. Then threw some corn on top of it...
I have never used a mineral block out, but I am going to put one out with some corn in one of my areas this year.
As the seasons change so do their nutritional needs. As the bucks antlers grow they protein and sodium May, June, July, come August they are not looking for as much sodium then come September they go into carb gluttony as the fall approaches so they can prep for the up coming winter. The does look to protein and sodium as their fawns nurse June, July, and into August. They will continue to feed on food sources that are readily available but their bodys will tell them to search out different requirements that they are not getting.
A bottle of molasses is a cheap way to liven up your corn pile too. Did you get a lot of hits on that 50 lb bag of salt?
Yup, a decent amount. I have a 4' dia. area thats all torn up. It started off slow this year then it started getting hit on a regular basis. It looks like I have a lot of young bucks visiting it this year, haven't seen much sign of any real big ones. Decent amnt of doe traffic also.
