Will 4 vanes work with a blade spring rest?

I'm in the middle of redoing some fletching and I'm thinking about trying 4 vanes. Has anybody here tried 4 vanes on a TT spring rest?

I've shot 4 fletch, from a recurve. Creates a lot of drag, unless you make 'em real small, try to keep the same amount of feather or vane. By that I mean that if you 3 fletch vanes total 6 sq in, make your 4 vanes equal 6 sq inches. Good luck. :)

I took some shots today just for giggles and see how they reacted. I was very surprised on how fast the 4 vanes recovered from the archers paradox. I shot at 20 yards, destroyed some vanes on one 4 vane arrow. 30 yards and then at 50 yards.

30 yards. you can see one of the feathered arrows hit odd. I think i pulled dwon to check the shot and didn't follow through properly.

50 yards. this is when i started shaking. i decided to come on in and take a break.

more surface area, catches more air... how much drop did you experance if any ?
looked like the grouped well..

I readjusted about an inch or so to get the 4 vaned arrows back in circle at 50 yards. Zero at 20 yards. Not till I was moving back did I notice the drop.

does it give u the "fshm" sound? I did tried once wif 4 fletch, but i get sound on every shot. Maybe my skill for fletching is limited.

Naw, thats one of the results of the increased surface area of the additional vane, more wind drag, faster stabilazition, and more noise. As an experiment I once made a 6 fletch with 6 5" shield cut feathers, and as expected, it would only fly about 50 yds ( unless you aimed it sky high ) and then come to a stop. Very noisy.

DS, wouldn't 3 vanes with a heavier helical work better? and give your the best of both worlds.

What I do with mine. I run my blazers through a arizona ez-mini - puts a wicked curl on em. Fly great out to 50. Only shot 60 a handful of times because of my limited places to get that distance.

I don't have the Helical clamp. I'm just using the dial a fletch with an offset. I have it far as i can go and still be able to glue the bases properly. I liked the four 4 inch AAE vanes that I switched most of my target arrows over to 4 vane. I did try three arrows with 3 inch fusion vanes and they didn't fly as good, plus it had a flutter sound. I'm already getting ready to strip the fusions off. You guys can tell....I'm really bored!.

I took a test shot this morning before i went off shooting rifles earlier with my son and neighbors.

Here's the ones I fletched last night. Some of the fusion already came off from arrows rubbing. Not as durable. So I'm gonna remove the fusions.
