New Toys Are Great!
Picked up a new toy with my tax return... Springfield XD40 Subcompact. :)
It will be my new carry gun, I'm very excited. Went and shot it for the first time today and I was impressed (not because of my accuracy, I haven't had a pistol in years) but because it did well in spite of me ;)

yep its a 40, and the Springfields come with two magazines... in the case of the sub compact, one short (9 round) and one long (12 round) with a spacer for a longer grip.
I haven't owned a pistol in about a decade, so obviously haven't shot one much over the last few years. Went out yesterday and ran a couple mags through it at 15 yds, shooting at the big center target and the little one in the corner. I'd have to say that it did well in spite of me. :)

Great pistol, I had one in Sub Comp .40 and the standard .45 barrel. I found out that the more I shot it; it came into the zero more. I had the .40 stolen out hunting. Someone broke into my pop-up and stole it on and Army Installation. I was archery elk hunting, and on the installation and you can't have a fire arm while archery hunting. That said you will like it. Just picked up a DPMS (Low classic AR-15), and a Taurs PT-140 sub comp Millennium with my Tax return. Make sure to try to get a few more mag for the .40.

wabbit .... that's not bad shooting with that gun at 15yds. Especially for not shooting it before. Actually not bad for not shooting a pistol in quite awhile.

Thanks Mike, I was pleased myself!
Tosi, nice score yourself on those guns! I wonder if Obama realized that by talking about gun control right before tax season he was gonna cause so much of our tax returns to be spent on arming ourselves? I know 3 other friends locally who are also purchasing guns with their tax returns...

Check,,, I never thought that I would own and AR as I carried one most of my life, but with all the Gun control crap that's going around I figure I purchase one before something stupid happens congressional. Since I purchased the AR, the price has gone up 80%. Yap and I purchased a few extra high capacity mag too. You'll like that spring field, just keep shooting it , it will come in for ya. It may take a few hunder round to get broken in. I started reloading about 20 years ago and it the best thing I done for the pocket book. "The lines are long at the gun counter these day's".

Not only are the lines long, but the ammo is dried up. I've been to several different stores around here to come up with ammo. The worst hasn't been the ammo for the 40 either, but coming up with 22 rounds for my little Marlin rifle (tube fed tack driver I've had for 18 years) and my wife's new Sig-Sauer Mosquito pistol.... nobody has had 22! I finally found a brick this morning and they are rationing; I could only buy the one brick.
