Alien Z & HHA's
Finally went in to setup my Alien Z today and ran into a snag. Hoping the Rytera guru's will have the answer. Here's the problem. With the sight bottomed out where it should be for 10 yards, I'm hitting 12-14" low at 13 yards.
As you can see the adjustment is at mid point (which is 45 yards on my other bow). This is where it is at 13 yards, yes 13 yards. I can't move the aperture down any lower. My rest is perfect but could be raised a bit but not enough to make up the difference. We moved the peep up until the sight was bottomed out as it should be at 10-15 yards and it was very uncomfortable and awkward as all get out to shoot and none of my anchor points there.
I have a 4" extension that would help a little but not enough. I have this sight on my Ridge Hunter and Genny's Cougar FC and they both adjust out from 10-70 yards. I measured the distance from the rest mount to the sight mount on all three. The Ridge Hunter & FC are 2 1/2" and the Alien is 2 5/8". Any ideas? I'm sure there are Alien Z shooters that use the HHA single pins.
Think I found the answer to my issue at the bottom of the page.
Before you go buying anything try posting a picture of the sight from the side. The bracket should have holes where you can move the sight guard. Which model HHA is it? I find it confusing that things worked out on two other bows, but won't on the "Z".
I know peep height will vary with draw length due to increased sting angle and anchor point, but with a 27" draw my peep usually ends up around 6" above the nocking point. If you use a loop that would be from the inside of the top loop. If your draw length is longer then this measurement should end up slightly longer depending on your anchor points.
Furthermore, I would forget about sighting in for 10 yards. The "Z" is quick enough that sighted in at 20 yards the poi at 10 yards will only be about 1" higher.
Barry, it's the 5519 and is at it's lowest point. sight mounting holes are 3/8" higher on the Z than the other two, a difference you can see. We shoot 3d sometimes and it's just easier for the wife to move the sight than to hold low so it's just habit to start out at 10 yards.

Distance from sight mount to rest mount on the Z.
Peep is 5 1/2" on the RH and 6 3/4 on the Z, both are at 30" draw and 68 pounds. I realize the rests & mounting bolts are different but the holes are where the factory put them. The same rest, just different generations.
When shooting the 'birdie' walk-up field target, I use the 30 yd mark on my HHA 5519 for spot shots, 20 is the lowest mark I have.
OK, the disk I was seeing threw me off. I see now that it's a quiver mount. I have two friends with "Z's" that should be at my club this evening. I'll take a gander at them both and see what we come up with. FYI they both have HHA sights on them too. Both are set up with Rip Cord Code Red rests.` I'll see how they compare with my Nemisis, also with HHA and Ripcord.
Problem solved, the offset bracket did the trick. Now the sight is where it should be, 10 yards at it's lowest point. Just had to move the aperture to the right to compensate for the bracket thickness.
Barry, did you have a chance to look at those other Z's that are set up like mine? I'm baffled as to why the sight mounts are 3/8" higher.
No I didn't. Although the two guys are there most of the time they didn't show up this time.
I forgot to take a few pics during installation.
Gotta say I like the length and characteristics of this bow. Not too crazy on the grip yet, although it looks great on the bow, I find it kinda uncomfortable with all the holes. Maybe it'll grow on me?
Looks good NN! looks like a shooter too!
