HOW OFTEN DO YOU REPLACE YOUR STRINGS/CABLES?
Hutch
i have heard that a rule of thumb is , if u shoot alot , once a year, but i have gone as far as 3 years , i think it depends how much u wax them , the quality of the strings is a big factor as well , the best way to know if its time is look for fraying , and the best thing to do is measure the ata, if it is longer than the spec its time to get new ones , hope this helps :)
I've gone as much as some 15,000 shots. That's about a year. My hunting bow, not shot near as much, has went 3 years.
Hey Hutch, hows that remodel coming ? When are you going to have your new string jig set up? :)
I normally reccomend once a year if a person shoots year round and practices several times a week. For the guy that just hunts and dosen't pull his bow out untill a few weeks prior to season and then hangs it up after season, every 2-years.
I do know of 1 guy thats retired and he has 2 practice sessions a day, shoots every 3D event he can get to and shoots leagues during the winter, he wears out 2 sets a year.
I change it around ... 3 to 4 times a year. Just because i tinker with my bows alot and i want to try out new ideas or colors.
In my opinion it is not necessary to replace them more often than once a year as long there is no exessive wear.
I would replace mine, but about the time it's necessary I have a new bow.
Every 2,I have a couple bows that all get shot.I rarely shoot in the winter and
shoot a fair amount in the summer.
i like Barrys idea new bow yep yep werks fer me :)
:o only when they start looking like its needed. I keep the bow in tune.. Now if I made my own strings ..It would be a lot more often
