100 vs 125 gr heads?
been shooting 100's for years now, but with my f/c shooting so fast should i consider going up to 125's for extra foc and knock down power? I will only be shooting whitetails and no further than 30 yards, but i like to practice at 50 and 60 yds
p.s. fellas, finally got this thing tweeked and tuned shoots amazing finally! No more trg and timed to perfection.
About time you are having fun! How stiff are your arrows? would show if you really need to go 125 gr. A little more punch might not be so bad but how much change will it make?
i started a thread allmost the same.might be some good info for ya.
No difference at all except for affecting the spine. The extra 25 grains won't give you anymore 'knock down power' because bows have none. Some believe more FOC makes some difference to accuracy but I haven't seen any proof of it.
Going to 125g might give you more of a choice in broadheads though.
Yes you may have to change arrow spine. but I am a big believer in FOC too. especially when it comes to broadhead tuning. Maybe its all in my head but I feel that more weight forward helps the my arrow track better. I've never had any evidence of more nock down power or an arrow that hits harder even though it seems like it would make sense with more weight travling down range. I shoot 125gr just for the FOC. And my dad telling me they hit harder.:)
It just depends, I think there is a trade off in there somewhere. I prefer about 13% FOC myself. My friend shoots (and kills) at about 9%.
I grew up in eastern Oregon, in the land of the wheat field and dirt clod fights were a fact of life. Grab a handfull of straw and toss it; If you have a decent dirt clod attached it will fly pretty good, if not it kinda goes where ever. Too much clod though and it won't be as fun because it won't go as far. :p
I bet a heavier dirt clod hurts more than a light one.

got another question, but i'll start a new thread
But dirt clods don't have a super sharp razor attached to the front. It doesn't need to knock down a deer, just cause enough tissue damage to make them drown in their own blood.
