K&K archery actually use something like this, I'm curious as to what size their rods are ...
That said, I'm pretty happy with my offset cable rod, adjusted for minimal clearance and it seems to flex...
Pity you can't get the stickers anymore, but please post up pics when you're done with the refurbishment!

But dirt clods don't have a super sharp razor attached to the front. It doesn't need to knock down a deer, just cause enough tissue damage to make them drown in their own blood.
