Bigbob, Are there wildfires in Australia?
None in WI, but when i lived in yellowstone the lodge pole pines needed fire to germinate to seeds in the pinecones

As destroyer said there are terrible wildfires[ we call them bushfires] from time to time over here, often with massive property and human losses. An out of control fire is no good where ever it is, so thats one other thing we share.

update, like it doesn't make the national news. 440,000+ acres burned, and only 6% contained. They said that the burn area is the size of the state of Rhode Island. They have gone into the burn areas and said there is still plent of forest left, it's not a total disaster. There is/was a beautiful camp ground at Big Lake, and a new section opened up 1-2 years ago. It see's plenty of summer visitors, The lake gets stocked with trout and has some nice hold overs. I went there 4 years ago. Sure was nice coming out of the mountain into the meadow area, every time we saw deer and elk.

a link and some photo's of the lake, and camp grounds http://www.biglakeaz.com/Big%20Lake%...20Gallery.html
