Martin Tech Forum Groups.

To access the Groups, click the 'Community' button on the top left hand side and select 'Groups' from the drop down list. There you will find community made groups for discussing any topic.

Use this thread only for tutorials on how to use the various group features. Make sure you give it a relevant title. No comments please!

Joining a Group

There are three types of group: public, moderated and invite only. Definition from the create groups page:

"Any member can join public and moderated groups. Users must be approved by a group leader before membership is finalized for moderated groups. Invite Only groups require that a group leader invite a user before they can join."

To join a public or moderated group, click the '+ Join' button. To join an invite only group, you need to be invited.

Create a Group

Any member can create a group by clicking the '+ Create Group' button. Select a 'Group Category', write a short description then you can choose any of the three types. Finally choose options then click save.


Photo's in the Groups

You can not post images directly into the group topics but there a few other ways to achieve this. You can link to a image from the 'Albums' in your profile or by uploading the image to a online file storage site like Imageshack or Photobucket then linking to it.

To link to a photo from your album, first create a new album from your profile page and upload the image. Then you have two choices on how you can link it. By selecting either the 'Picture URL' or the 'BB Code' on the bottom right on any selected photo in your album, then copy and paste this code into your post. Note: by using the 'BB Code', the image is only displayed to members.

When you want to subscribe to a topic or discussion Click on the the drop down menu in the upper right hand of the topic. It will be titled thread tools, then click on subscribe. You have just subscribed to that topic.

To view your subscription go to your settings menu in the top right of your page. Click on settings. When the page opens it will have view all subscriptions, click on the subscription you want.

To invite a member, go to your group, click 'Admin' on the right hand site and choose 'Pending & Invited Members' from the drop down list. Then enter a member name into the 'Member to Invite' box, then click invite.
