TRG question

I was looking at the TRG on my Onza and although I see some shiny spots and no real digs like I have seen on other TRGs I was wondering if I put a little grease on it if it would make it slicker and less prone to wear? I have some killer grease I use on my rifle and pistola and think it would work well on the TRG unless anyone knows of a reason why not to do it.

depending on the grease it can eat fibers and ruin some plastice.

I've heard, wax and grease just gum up and make a mess. Other then that I havent heard of anything.
