Strings and extreme heat
You would think that I should know the answer, since I do live in Arizona. What kind of effect does extreme have on bow strings? Would it be stupid/unsafe to leave a bow in my truck, all the time? It can hit 150+ degrees in a vehicle out here. I live 1 mile from the Rez, and from time to time I will see a Yote running off with some ones family cat.
I would rather not test the waters, a bow blowing up in my face dosen't sound like much fun.

Heat and strings don't mix. But heat and bow mix less. The limbs under a lot of pressure with the heat is not a good thing.

A long bow or recurve could be just the ticket for a ride along bow.

How hot do you think it is in the semi truck that ships bows across country? Or in the FedEx or UPS trucks?I was shooting in 112* heat today. I would set the bow down to fetch arrows and it would burn my hand to pick it up. Surely it couldn't have been that far from 150*. So what is the magic number on strings Hutch? I can't do anything about the heat but suffer it. My opinion is that it is a temp way higher than we can stand. Those guys sitting in blinds in Africa talk about how extremely hot it is.

No magic number MLN, Bows and strings are not to be left in extreme heat or sunshine. Most manufacturers will tell you this in the manual. http://www.martinarchery.com/manuals...und_Manual.pdf

If it is too hot/cold for you to sit where-ever you are leaving it, it is too hot/cold for the bow. Best to keep it in a regulated climate I think.

I'm not a cat fan any ways, the Yotes can eat them all. Besides they make a mess when they find their way into my boat.
