Question about Martin STS

What is the rod made out of on the martin sts? The sts is 30 dollars, but i am thinking about just buying a carbon cable rod and put the sts bumper on to it. I can do this for 10 dollars plus shipping from the martin website. What do you guys think?

I don't think the carbon rod is going to work. Because the string does not track to the middle of the riser the rod has to have a dog leg (bend) so you can adjust the bumper so the string hits the bumper in the middle. You could get their dog legged cable rod, but need to ask what it's made of. If it's aluminum then you can just do a little measuring and cut it off. If it's the older stainless steel rod then it would be a lot tougher.
