Exile/TRG question

I've got a 2011 Exile and noticed that Martin has gotten rid of this system on its 2012 line up. I've read complaints from Onza 3 owners that it prematurely wears the cables. Does this apply to the Exile? Should I replace it with a standard cable slider?

replaceing it is 100% up to you.some people say they have had 0 issues with the TRG and most say they have had issues with it.my buddy had the TRG on his exile and it did cause wear and he got it replaced.so if you dont want to take the chance gice CS a call.or give it a try.

Not yet but I shoot my traditional bows a lot more than my compounds. Is this a recall type thing with Martin or are they replacing them just on customer bows with prematurely worn strings?

You know Im not sure , Never heard of any recall... But if you dont show signs of wear... just keep an eye on it, shoot a e mail off to CS and see what they say...What Trad Bows you shootin???? Mines in the Sig picture of it in walmart wolverines... just posted in that thread.. so it on top

A call to Cs will be more productive than an email. Have read countless times where someone got no awnser to an email, call 'em.

Elkslayer........I don't know where to start on that question. I've got 8 or so vintage Bears going back to the 50's, some dual shelf's and all in mint condition. A hoyt Dorado, (Great bow BTW), A Quinn recurve, Blackhawk, A Don Dow longbow, Mad Dog Recurve, Howard Hill Red Man, A couple of Rudder long bows, A Martin X200 (Really nice shooter!) A Samick Red Stag and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. You think compounds are addictive, just try traditional equipment....there are so many nice vintage bows and most sell for short money.

As 4x5 says, a call to CS is your best route. There is no recall per se, but in almost all cases where the customer has requested it CS has been sending out the rod, slide, and STS as replacements. Also as mentioned, not all bows have the problem. I don't think it's related in any way to a particular model so much as the way the TRG is adjusted or maybe some sort of burr edge in the middle. Afterall it is just a piece of molded plastic so almost has to have a seam in the middle.

When you call you need to push #3 (I think) on the phone for warranty service.

I've looked a Samick's Red Stag a couple of times ( Catalog only ) back before I fell in love with Martin's latest traditional Masterpiece, the Gail Martin Signautre Recurve. When the guys on Stickbow's lkeatherwall board where talking about the bow, they asked Larry Hatfield if it was his design, he replied that it was Gail's bow all the way, did mention that he worked on it and says that its a fun bow to shoot, Here's a link to that post and another link to Martins site, differnt than the one we have

I do and yes they are going cheep..we have been looking on ebay for 4x5 since he gve me his and i wont give it back ...lol love that bow.. any way It all i shoot for the last 2 years put my compounds on a shelf so to speak..
