    Default Eastman Outdoors

Does anyone know anything about Eastman Outdoors? I got a call the other night from a friend. He said he was watching the show, and they flashed a picture of my grandfather with the Dall sheep he shot in Alaska back in the 60's. He was familiar with the picture after having seen it here at my house. I e-mailed Eastman's to see if they could send me a copy of the show. Be really nice to have a copy, since he died when I was only 6 years old. I've tried for years to get copies of the hunting magazines and ads he was in back in the 50's and 60's. Sadly, most everyone that knew him has passed away also, and that makes it tough. I did get 3 copies of Field and Stream from Jan. 1961 that had a big write up about one of his hunting trips to Alaska where he and his guide crashed their plane, and spent a week on foot. Gave those to my father for Christmas one year. Best gift ever. Also been trying to track down some old Hodgdon Powder ads that had him in them. He and Bruce Hodgdon were good friends, so Bruce used him in several of his ads. Seems noone keeps pieces of history like that anymore. Thanks for the input guys!

Well, Guy Eastman contacted me this afternoon about the show. He said he was going to mail me a DVD of the episode ASAP. I was completely amazed. I e-mailed them around 3 this afternoon, and already have my reply by 7:30. Didn't ask me to pay for the DVD or shipping, just that they'd get it out immediately. Glad to know there is at least one group of guys making hunting shows that still care about something other than money.

MLN, his name is George E. Baumann. He did alot of hunting in his day. Made 3 trips to Africa, went to Alaska at least twice a year, and hunted all over the U.S. and Canada. I think he's a big part of the reason I love to hunt so much. My father is kinda into hunting, but nothing like I am. I think the hunting bug must have skipped a generation. lol
