Default Daughter going on first hunt

For years my daughter has been going along with me on my hunts. She has even called in many turkeys and elk but she has never carried a weapon. After shooting last years bird she said, "That's it, I'm getting my hunter safety and your calling for me." Well she passed her hunter safety last week and she will hunt for her first time in April. I will carry my bow and she will carry my shotgun. It could be a first for the both of us; I still have never shot anything with my bow and she hopefully will get her first turkey.

A big congrats to you and your Daughter. When it comes to Turkey's. Slow movements if you have to move around. Try not to move at all if they are in range. try to set up in a shaded area. Break up your human silhouette if possible with camo, Gillie netting or use the natural vegetation to make yourself blend in. When it comes to bows. have your bow at the ready, slow movements when getting into Shooting, anchoring position. I find that less calling is better than excessive calling. Just my two cents.

    Happy hunting!.

Congrats, I'm sure you'll spend many hours together in the field enjoying the bonding nature gives. My girlfriend just took and passed her hunter's safety course too so she could go hunting. Bought her license and tags last week. At 51, she never thought she'd turn into a hunter, but she's more excited about turkey season than I am. lol She'll be taking a shotgun of course, but the way she's been shooting her bow, she'll be ready for archery deer in fall.

Thanks everyone. We purchased our turkey licenses on Tuesday. The youth hunt begins tomorrow with the regular hunt begining on the 15th. My daughter is excited. It was fun watching her purchase her first hunting license. The smile she had on her face was amazing. She was so happy. I bet she doesn't sleep well tonight. As far as that goes, I might not as well.
