Wow! A couple of rare Martin 'Limited edition' bows are for sale over on ebay. Beatuifull bows, both are #10 of the production run, both never shot. And of course, seller wants top dollar. But again, Wow!
First one is a "Buffalo Hunter" recurve, 62", 53 #'s @28". Built in 1995, been in case since. Yew and Black Walnut riser, Red Elm Limbs with Walnut and Yew tip overlays. #10 of 500. Comes with plaque. Buy it now for $500.

The second one is a "Mammoth Hunter" Long Bow #10 of 30. Built in 1994, it has remained in its case since, never strung. 64", 45 #'s @28", has Mammoth bone accents and tip overlays, on North English Yew riser. Not all of the 30 had the Mammoth bone overlays. Also comes with plaque. You can buy it now for $1500.

Well worth the look, artwork on them looks to be Pre Dreamcatcher.

Workmanship at it's finest. There is quite a resurgence from compounds to traditional around these parts, but few are going to want to part with that much money. Some guys state that they are getting a little tired of all the new technology that really isn't changing enough from year to year any more. Just the marketing hype that's changing the most. They want to get back to just having fun and this is one way to do it.. I also notice that most are buying bows with lighter draw weights, such as around 35# to 40# just because they are more enjoyable to shoot.

IMO as much as the technology has been changing, compound bows have not really changed as much as people think. I would have to say that traditional equipment has changed some. Most of today's traditional bows are compatable wiith fast flight strings so shoot much faster than those of just 20 years ago, maybe even 10 years ago.

It my be blasphemy, but even I'm starting to think of getting one. Just for the pure enjoyment of it.

Those are beautiful bows for sure.

Barry - I have seen a resurgance of people shooting trad bows around here also.
The local trad club has been gaining members the last couple years, which is a really cool thing.

I still have an old recurve that I would only string up and shoot a couple times a year.
(Nothing like the bows posted above)
However, now that my 9 year old is showing a lot more interest in shooting his bow - I have been going out back and shooting my
old recurve with him.
It is a blast to watch him shoot and a lot more fun for us both because, with the recurve, I shoot about the same level as he does with
his little compound.

...now that summer is here - water balloons make for great targets and lots of laughs. !

Does'nt sound like blasphemy to me, of course I've always been a traditional bowman first and foremost, compounds second. Hunted Turkey with an old Ben Pearson 'Cougar' this spring, did'nt get a shot, but sure was easier to pack through the wood than my 06 Slayer is. My biggest knock on my Slayer is it's speed, darned hard to enjoy the mystical flight of the arrow when your ole eyes can't keep up with it, might be why I enjoy shooting field rounds so much, as it gives me at least some time to see my shot in flight. Naw, thats not it, started out shooting field and still love the game, real fond of the Hunter round as well. Nowhere near as good as I once was, but still love shooting , "Just for the pure enjoyment of it"

It seems like it is still up there on Ebay....but for about $1200+ .....it is a beautiful bow. I can't afford to buy a bow to look at, barely afford to buy one to shoot, lol!

So it's back up for auction, not suprized that no one bought it, asking a lot for it, still a real nice bow and probabbly rare as well. That price is in the custom bow price range, for a production bow, even though as I say, it's possibly rare, would have to ask Larry Hatfield over on Leatherwall about that, but he did'nt post when I posted that auction over there. Maybe he did'nt see my post. As far as good looking wood goes, I got fairly lucky last April when I bought my Ben Pearson, only one I've seen with whatever this wood is, these pics hardly do it justice, this is a solid riser, not a laminate, but real purdy! And its a shooter as well! Made some real solid bows back then, near as I can pinit down, its about 1968, as thats when manufacturers began writing AMO on the bows. That Tigercat I mentioned the other day was Zebrawood, a 35#er, traded it in on a HC30, as I wanted a longer bow to ease the finger pinch of my 31" draw.
