Threshold Noob

Hi to the forum. i am new to bows and thought i would get a 2012 threshold. I didn't want to get too deep in to start off with so after tons of research i opted for the best sub $250 bow i could find in my size. I received the Bow on Tuesday and i must say that i am very impressed with the over all fit and finish. I am taking the Bow to my local Wholesale sports because the Bowman said he would help me with initial setup. i will be shooting it at 65lbs with a cobra caliper release with victory vforce v-6 carbon 350 arrows at 30" draw with 31" shafts and 100gr field points for practice. After i put the sights quiver and rest on the bow i noticed that the arrows i selected had been fletched off center with the rest. is this ok or should i take them back and get different arrows? also my bow came with a different sight than mentioned. it was supposed to have a striker sight and it came with a Trophy ridge Sharp shooter sight.

Hello,welcome to forum,just put your arrow on bow like your goint to shoot it,just dont draw it back,then turn arrow until you have cock vane up or down depending on rest.If it;s a dropaway then cock vane up.Make sure all your arrows end up in same position.
As faR as sight goes there both about the same so it doesnt matter really.

WC, glad to see you found your way into the forums. Congrats on your bow purchase. Although not as high tech as some bows your Threshold should suit your purposes very well for quite some time. You made a comment about the fletching of your arrows being off center in realtion to the rest. This isn't so. You can index the nocks in the arrows to a different position, meaning you can turn the nocks to whatever position you desire. Your bow guy should know this and help you out.

Thank you both. I'm sure I'll like the bow. It feels nice and solid. I cannot wait to shoot it tomorrow after the sop gets it set up. I'm sure it will not be my last bow. This forum is full of great info. Thanks again for the fletching tips.

Congrats on the new bow,
I have a Threshold as well mine is set at 60 Lbs. with the f5 module. If you are using the Mantis rest the cock vane is indexed down. I got my bow at the end of deer season last fall and love it. I have been shooting a couple dozen arrows a day for the last couple weeks getting ready for the season. Enjoy your new bow and welcome to the forum.

Got the bow tuned at the shop. The bow guy at Wholesale sports was awesome helped me out and tried to tell me it was all free.....so i gave him a 10 and told him to go have a burger on me. Very helpful guy and very Knowledgeable.

Well i decided that I really like archery! it is my second day with a decent bow and i am getting a group of 3 to 4" at 33 or so yards with at least 2 in the bull on my yellow jacket target. i did notice that one of my arrows seems to not fly as true as the others. I also had to do a bit of sight adjusting to get it dead on at 30 yrds. so i have a 10-20yrd pin and a 30 yrd pin and the next day we have a little less rain ill setup a 40 yrd pin.

It's not all that uncommon to have one or more arrows that just won't group with the rest. Here's something to try. The nocks can be turned in the arrow as you may know by now. The fletch are put on 120 degrees apart. Try rotating the nock 120 degrees to line up with the next fletch (vane or feather) and try shooting it again. If that doesn't work turn it to the next one and try again. Sometimes this does work to get it grouping as it should.

Turning the nock is fairly simple. Just nock the arrow on the string and twist the arrow. Just eyeball it for alignment.

Sounds like your doing just fine with your shooting. Keep it up.
