I lost a set of strings to the gray teflon one on the Bengal, too, but I thought it was the better of the two slides and an upgrade from the white one?

Only bad thing about all this is i called dicks and they dont change strings, safety issue they say and i dont have any dealers close to me.The one i got my firehawk from dropped martin also.
Dicks said send the bow back and they will send me a new one but im not going to do that.Im satisfied with the bow just need a string and teflon cable guide.
Martin said i need to send parts in first then they will send new string back ,so i guess ill be shootin firehawk for awhile.........

Gotta look on the bright side of things in that they are going to send you the string and slide. Sucks for sure, but at least we get that.

Weird, I've been using my Scepter V with the original gray slide for months now and no wear and tear. Could there be some defects in some of them causing this?

I've never had a problem with any of Martins slides - black, white or grey.
Actually a few months ago I ordered 4 of the new grey ones from Martin and put them on my other bows.

I had one of the newer grey slides start roughing up a string as well, so I replaced all my slides with the old white teflon slides. 3 other bows had the grey/black slides, and no sign of string damage, but I figured better safe than sorry.
