Anybody make up there own scent killer?

Anybody make up there own scent killer? Just wondering? A lot of hunters do and I was wondering if it does the job?

Here is one recipe.

I copied it from a thread at Eders:

Ingredients for Scent Killer:

16 oz. (2 cups) Peroxide (hydrogen peroxide 3%)

16 oz. (2 cups) Distilled Water

¼ cup baking soda

1 oz. On non-scented shampoo

Let sit for several days some where dark or in a dark container (hydrogen peroxide light sensitive) (milk jug works good with lid loose). This recipe is also good for removing blood from your hands in the field after dressing your critter! No dried blood, presents a better image!


Here an idea for some scent free 'baby wipes'...

mix up a batch of scent killer as per instructions above...

take a roll of heavy duty paper towels (Bounty, Scott, etc..not the 49 cent cheapies)

cut the roll in half with an electric knife so you have 2 short rolls of paper towels(don't try a regular knife... it doesn't work). Pull the cardboard tube from the middle of the half roll

Find a Rubbermaid or Tupperware container big enough to hold the 1/2 roll of paper towels (and with a good sealed lid).

Put one of the 1/2 rolls of paper in the container, pour in the scent killer, let the wipes soak up the scent killer, keep covered tigtht so they don't dry out. Because the inner cardboard tube is out, pull the paper towels out the from the middle like a Kleenex!

The wipe idea didn't work as good for me I think I got it to wet but not sure. The wipes would tear to much and I did use Bounty as the tread had said.

Wondering if actual scent free baby wipes would work for this. You could take them out of the box, let them all dry out ... I know they do because my 1 year old will clean one out and I'll find it a few days later, dry as a regular paper towel ... pour the mix in with those to wet them back up and you have a container where they will pull out 1 by 1 already done ready to go ...

Might work Dp, not sure but what about adding to the distilled water. Like pine needles, dirt, leaves etc then strain the distilled water and use it. Should make a great woods smell.

Honestly I was thinking about the same exact thing while my lunch was in the microwave ... I thought about acorn oil or something like that. Could use the wipes and hang them or leave them along a path. Heck, I know they make bio-degradable wipes also that you could a "cookie crumbs" with leaving them in the trees or branches. They aren't edible, so it wouldn't be like hunting over bait ...
