Default TRG Replacement......question on the process.

looks like i'm going to get a Martin Exile......
here's my question.........it has the TRG...........can't my dealer call or i get a hold of joel and they will send out the upgrade / replacement kit for no charge.
Seems like that is what i have read on here and archerytalk.

what is all in the kit......does a sts come with it and new strings...?

As I recall the Exile does not have a hole machined to accept the STS. As such you would only get the rod and slide. In the past Joel has provided the parts at no cost. Your dealer may charge for his labor which Martin doesn't cover. Call Joel and find out for sure.

worst case is you get a front mount STS and use that. I did that with my Cheetah, older model without a rear hole.

I bought and 11 ONZA model from the dealer and the dealer requested the rod and slide and new string (about a week waiting). The dealer replaced at no cost. If the bow had not been shot you may not need a new string but ask for one anyway, get as a back up? Like droppixel said, get a rear mounted string stop. Their's some good one on the market. Good luck, I'm looking at the 2013 Exil for my wife.

I just performed this change on my Exile. Be advised that with the slide Martin supplies, you will find insuffecient vane clearance with Cock feather up (A requirement if you are using a Whisker Biscuit) My solution was to use a Saunders Hyper-slide which pulls the cables a bit more toward the guide rod. If your using a drop away you can just turn your nocks to cock feather out or somewhere between.
