Congrats on the bear Capt.

I just pulled my tag here for Wisconsin "C" zone for this next fall. It took me 4 years of applying to get the kill tag. In our northern areas it can take 10 years of applying to get a tag.

I see bears every year while bow hunting whitetails. I hope I do this next year! I'll be baiting them though, dogs aren't allowed in the "C" zone. They do run dogs in the northern areas.

Congrats on the bear that is awesome,
for the Oregon guys head up toward Goble/ St. Helens, set up a stand, or still hunt, your choice, they are all over my friends place, up by the rock quarry,above the goble tavern/ Boat launch you may be able to talk to the guys there ( at the quarry) and get in the back side( North) to do a little harvestin.

Some of us Oregon guys have plenty of bears to try and harvest. I've been chasin the one in my avatar ever since he showed up on my trail camera, ( the photo over there in the upper left ) 15 minutes after I changed the batteries in the trail cam. In the same area, we ran a string of 3 cameras, over that summer, we indentifed 12 differnt bears, all within a 3 mile strech, 6 miles from home. He's smarter than I am, so far! Photos below where taken a week apart, same spot. Slightly differnt angle, 3rd pic is what changed the angle. In the last pic, you can see the stick that has the two white dibbons on it, laying down, the result of the 1st pic. I figure that he's 42" tall at his shoulders.

Was this gov land , or guided. I want to go on a bear hunt next spring, it will probably have to be guided, I know nothing about bear hunting. I know north Florida was full of black bears when I hunted there.

The area I was talking about is Timber company property, behind locked gates, but accessable for the general public by foot, or bicycle, no moterized vehicles, but it is subject to fire control issues. Cannot build a blind on Timber company property. Have had one trail camera stolen, and one broken trying to steal it.
