Something to look at to model after. Not a bad set up I'd say. Practical/functional for as simple as the rig is. Definitely ways to improve it.

Sorry Dp, but that scares me! A bow with a hard draw cycle will flex that pipe and that will end that. I am sure there are ways to make that set up better. The one thing I see is the bow holder is not free floating so the bow is stiff. You would need to make it free floating so it shoots the way a human shoots. Also I would put a steel rod inside the 3/4 pvc for safety. Get a different winch that you can crank with out a ratchet.

Hey Dp, try this one you can do this with out welding. All you will need is to put in an up and down feature.

Looks like they missed alot by the holes in the 2x4's on the target frame...
Plus . . . anyway...

I do have a question tho, for you that have 'shooters' - If you use a regular 'boat' winch to draw the bow back,
when you fire the bow, does the winch just sit there - does the cable or strap want to jump, does the winch want to backlash...???...

p.s. ... and I would weld that thing together.!...

Spiker my cable to my winch doesn't move it just sits there.

I think the mechanism of the winch prevents this. The energy isn't stored but is transfered into the lock so to say.

Another one to look at. Looks like this guy used uni-strut. Not many more things in the world that bother me more than vertical video syndrome ...

Wow I think I am getting motion sickness watching that video. The only problem with that one is cost. The one I build would cost less than $100 dollars. Many different designs out there some good some bad. There is a tread on AT that shows many different ones. I would give the link but I can't get on at for some reason.

You are are correct. It locks in place so that it can't move.
