Thinking of picking up a leftover '12 Pantera

The specs seem great to me, especially for hunting. However I dont have the opportunity to get a feel for the Fury XT cam...Any Input on this bow/cam system? Im looking for smooth, but would like to get around 280 fps with a 28" draw, 65-70# and a 400 grain arrow...can this be done?

Well I just sold a 2012 Pantera with a Gibbs Thumper Stabilizer, hyper glide slide for $300 and cloaked cams + a Hutch-n-son string set. I had a good number of arrows shot out of her with a limb driver pro drop. I'm 29 @ 70lbs and a 29" arrow that weights in at 430g. I was getting 278 out of it. For the Cams, not as easy as my Fire Cat 400 with Nitro cams. Once you get over the hump the back wall is sold and you may have to adjust the string stop for fit an comfort. I will say it was a accurate bow, I harvested a nice 3X3 mule deer @ 80 yards. The 34 ATA was forgiving with a stabilizer and some Limb Savers on it. It not as nice of a tree stand and or blind bow as a 31 or 32 ATA, but it's a shooter. I sold it as I'm looking at the 2013 models. Hope this helps, I may regaert letting it go.

Not a huge fan of the shorter bows, 34-37" is about perfect for my liking. I haven't had a solocam in a while, last one was an '07 C4 Cougar with the original Mpro cam. Super smooth not really a barn burner though. I'm ok with that, 280 fps is a great number to attain for hunting.

Just wanna know if she's a smooth shooter and quiet enough.

I've messed with my set up on all my bows to try and get the most out of the bow with out giving up comfort. Your right when you say speed not everything epically shooting an arrow that's weights over 400g. I believe you could easily get to were you want with a Pantera, may have to drop arrow weight around 385g and string selection. I believe the drop away rest with a Sanderson Hyper Glide Slide has increased my speeds. Also had speed nocks on the string and went to Bohning A nocks on my Easton Axis's. If you do get a Pantera you'll like it, and I'm sure there's folks on here that will have great help into getting you were you want.

What is the actual axle to axle of the 2012 Pantera? On one website I saw 32", on Martin's spec sheets i saw 31"? I thought it was 34?

34 and I think it is a great shooting bow you will like it.

Put some thought into the same with an Onza, but since the XT was released this year, I totally wanted that riser over the Onza. Now that the XT is taking over full time, I might hold off until next year for a leftover. Or even go find an original Nemesis.
