Default Waitng for next year.....its not too long to wait

I was walking across the peach orchard to go check the stands today...(just getting out of the house). I looked down between the rows and found this arrowhead. It sent me straight into thinking about all the hunting that has gone on over this patch of earth. Some native American shot this arrow at something/someone hundreds of years ago and then walked around looking for his arrow for god knows how long. As the deer season winds down I get kind of bumed out that I have to wait so long to get back in the stand next year. Finding this arrow head kind of helped remind me that its just around the corner and 9 months isn't really that long to wait. I am sure a 100 years from now some contractor building a subdivision will find a broadhead and carbon arrow and think the same thing. Our trips to the woods are limited in number....ENJOY the short time you have to hunt while you are here doing YOUR time on this patch of earth.

Very well written. What you got there is a dart point or atlatl point. Wouldn't it be nice to true hunter gatherer for a couple of days?

I looked it up and dated it. It came in around 3000 BC to 7000 BC.

That's really a nice find and a nice post to go along with it. Although I don't hunt any more I did my share for a long time. It always seemed like the next season couldn't come fast enough and then all of a sudden it was upon me. Sometimes I look back on my hunting career and wish I were younger, but that isn't going to happen. Memories are what I have left and I only hope most younger people can look back on their own experiences someday and appreciate all that the outdoors can offer.

Come on August. Last year was kind of a bust as 300+ head of cattle moved into my set up 3 days before I was to hunt it and the deer just melted away. CAUTION on picking up the ancient one's stuff it is highly illegal. My best read this year was Pope's book Ishi. I have one trail camera out that I will check after the first of the year. It's never too early to start scouting. I seldom find any sheds here as the rodents really chew them down in short order, but you guys that can I envy you.

wow, nice find! Very well written and eloquant post!

I must admit, sometimes it seems like it will take forever for hunting season to come back around... then next thing I know its here, and I'm not ready! LOL
My wife packed my bags and threw me out, as I was walking out the door, she told me "I hope you have a long and miserable life!"... To which I replied "Oh, now you want me to stay?!" LOL
