    Default Facelift for the SlayR

First, I wanna give a big shout out and thanks to HawgEnvy for giving me the help I needed to do this project...

The SlayR I bought was a little dinged, scratched, in better terms-put through its paces. I decided a little facelift for it couldnt hurt, plus Im obsessed with the black riser/camo limbs combination. The whole shi-bang cost me 15$ and about a full day's worth of work But anyhoo, here is my finished project.

Note: im gonna post the pictures in order of my process with a brief step by step

1.) I started with tearing the bow down to the bare riser

2.) The longest part for me, I used painter's tape and taped off all the holes for the sights, rest, stabilizer, limb pockets, and whatever else I wanted to keep camo (required a few beers afterwards)

3.) I did a brief sanding with 600 grit paper, just enough to take the luster off and rough up the original paint

Had to break this up into two seperate posts but anyways, continued..

4.)I used some wet cloth and wiped down the entire bow to rid it of dust, dirt, oil, whatever else may have been on it

5.)Sprayed two good coats of Rustoleum truck bed liner (non-rubberized) on the riser, and peeled the tape off

6.) I reassembled the bow, and got ready to crack open another beer and admire my work

This project was fun, challenging, and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to. Learned alot about my bow and this process during the time I took to refinish this. I personally am very happy with the way it turned out, and im getting it dressed back up for turkey season which is just around the corner here in WI

Lastly, the supplies and tools I used for the project

Fantastic job on the step by step and pictures. If I was a betting man I would have guessed that it was a minimum of 6 beers!.

Plus If Beer was involved and I was doing it I would have the limbs reversed and pointing the other way

    Congrats!.

Nicely done Jake. Much easier to just tape and spray. I stripped my Saber down to metal and painted it... but I used that same truck bed liner! It works great! I could use a beer though...

Looks great Jake. I am really liking that camo/black look. I was never too fond of the all black, even an all black riser. I think this is a great compromise between the two looks. Well done!
