help with slayer

just got a slayer se. 70 lbs limbs maxed out, NOS C cams, about 28.5 on the draw, everything is in perfect timing, using a 350 grain arrow I can only get about 288 out of it. IBO is like 325, given the draw is a little short of 30 i can see it being slower but I figured I cound get in the 300-310 range. can someone help me out ??? any help and info will be very greatly appreciated!!! thanks, Dave.

Do you use a peep-sight? Do you use string silencers?

- 5-15 for the peep depending on if tubing is used
- 3-5 for a loop
- 4 for a brass nock point or cushion button
- 2-3 if string is well waxed

You can add speed buttons to gain 2-10fps, and remove peep tubing. Use only loop or button, not both, wax with light wax, etc...

We are helping set up this bow..........my husband has the exact same set up shooting 295 with a b nitrous cam. I have the same set up shooting 265 ibo legal with a 24.5 inch draw (b cam). I know that normally bigger cam means faster.......but the C nitrous just doesn't seem to deliver like the B. They have already compared shooting the c with the regular mod and mini mod.....mini mod is faster......

The bow only has a small peep, no tubing. It also has a small loop. There is nothing else on it. Would just that little bit of weight make that big of a difference???

Set at the same dl, the smaller cam is always more effecient.

No, it shouldn't mmake that much of a difference.

The B cams are the better cams on this bow for some reason. For the same draw (28.5) the B cam is more efficient as you are using all the available draw lengh. With the C cam you are shooting it at a minimum draw length, thus less efficient.

I suggest maybe trying a set of Mini-mods if you haven't already. This might help some. Other than that the next best thing would be to try to pick up a set of B base cams and start over.

I know the B Nitrous cam can be a screamer. I had a 2004 with B cams. At 27" draw and 53#, shooting a 267gr arrow it was doing 299 fps. AT 27.5" draw it did 304 fps.

The strings are little jon (deezlin) strings, 452 i believe.

In order to get a draw in the 28-28.5 inch range out of a b NOS what do I have to do?? Can that be done??

Well, the first thing you need is a set of B cams. I think the top position for those is 28", but slightly over rotating the cams could get you to 28.5" and this alone would boost the performance.

That's about all you can do with the bow except change string material to BCY 8125. Speed difference here is only a couple fp in most cases.

The rest might be just super tuning it and shooting as close to 5 gr/lb as you can manage. Twist out any cam lean, too.

OH, for B cams you might PM LeEarl on Archery Talk. The Nitrous cams are out of production, but he may have some.
