    Default Onza draw length

Has anyone been able to get an Onza III down to a 26 DL? If so, how'd you do it? Thanks all!

From a minimum spec draw of 27 1/2" to 26" is a bit much and then that most run long you're talking a whole bunch. So if you really want to get to a measured 26" of draw you may be looking at a set of custom length made strings.

Thanks Sonny. That's kind of what I was thinking too. Figured that was a bit much to be short stringing, or lengthening ATA or both. Had a guy asking if my Onza would get to 26. Best I can do with the mods is 27.5, but might try to play with the others and see how it shoots.

Something you can try...if you're up to it.

    Ratio for cables and string
untwist cables (both) one full untwist and match with twisting up bow string 3 twist. Might try 4 full twists.

What to look for and watch; Keep ata to specs or that which gave max listed draw weight (+/- 2 pounds).
Don't twist bow string so it wants to curl up - if you can pull to straight, okay. Still better than tying knots in the bow string

I've done above. I maintained draw weight and never lost velocity. Long process, but that I had the bow string so twisted I had strings made.

Might give that a try. Anyone know the max twists in a string? Hutch????
This string is already at 1 full twist in 1 1/2 inches. Had to do that to get it to draw specs. Don't want to twist it too tight, and wreck a good string. Thanks all!

A well built string will have 1 twist every 1.5 inches. You can twist it up to ten more just to see if you can get it where you need it. But much more than that is pushing it.

Thanks Bill. I'll give it a try, but 10 twists doesn't sound like it'll drop a full 1.5 inches. I'm thinking 3 twists out of the cables, and 10 in the string should only move me about 1/2- 3/4 of an inch if that much. Worth a shot though!

You are correct in the fact that it would not be enough. Best bet is too have a string built at 2" shorter.

I hope you do know that short stringing 2" is going to make a fairly substantial drop in the weight range. But that might be better than having no bow to shoot at all.
