    Default 2013 So Cal Deer

I took these two bucks during the 2013 season with my Martin Firecat. These are Pacific Hybrids and both qualify for the California Bowmen Hunter record book. It was a great season.

Pacific hybrid is actually a sub species of the mule deer, the Pacific mule deer is the smallest of the mule deer. they are not a true hybrid not sure how the name came about but that's what we call them.

So, are these a cross between Blacktail & Mule Deer?

California Fish and Wildlife list the Pacific Mule Deer as a separate species and we have a separate category for them in our archery record book.

Yep, you got right. Here in Oregon, any deer east of the Pacific Coast trail is concidered a hybrid, a blacktail/mule deer, or as we cal 'em, a muletail.

Looks like big body deer. What I find interesting is that the first one shown does not have two pronged (split) G1 while the second one does.
