Ever read the small print notes on the corners of their catalogs? Larry Potterfield and his wife have donated several Millions dollars to the NRA, genertated by Larry's "round it up" change program.

The K is the Improved Hornet. Goes back to around 1940, about 20 years after the Hornet came out. Right at 100 fps faster and some say not as finicky. Tapered case is blown out, made straight wall, and given a sharp shoulder. Reamers and loading dies are easily available. Just fire new 22 Hornet ammo in newly formed chamber to form brass. Thompson Contender used to have the barrels for the little cartridge.

Still do! Very popular cartridge even after all these years and all the competition, it's still a reloaders favorite, you get a lot of loads out of a pound of powder. Another plus of the K Hornet is the improved case life. Now we have a .17 Hornet and a .17 Ackley Hornet. Bullets are getting so small that it's difficult to handle them.

I bought the Hornet barrel used and never gave a thought to having it reamed to the K-Hornet. If I were to ream it I'd probably have gone to the 221 Fireball or something similar. I've always had a soft spot for the .222 Remington. I can't believe you guys have gotten me thinking this stuff. I haven't had a gun out in over 20 years, other than my CC handguns.

45-70 best all around big game cartridges ever made. Like a bow, just got to be a little closer. Plus easy to reload for a rifle cartridge.
