    Default Martin Carbon Fiber STS

    I don't hunt can I take off the Martin Carbon Fiber STS,will this affect anything .I shoot spots and some 3D.

    If you take it off, you will get string backlash. Along with extra vibration out of the bow. I would leave it on.

    Don't know about the vibration, but you'll hear some noise... I pulled mine for about 3 shots and put it back on...Shadowcat...

    Just asking,because my Hoyt Contender Elite dose not have one and it's seems fine when I shoot it.

    Mike, being as it's a matter of loosening a setscrew I'd advice taking it off and see what the results are. The main purpose of an STS are to reduce string oscillation and the associated noise without having to add string silencers which rob a bow of some speed. There is an added benefit of less string contact with your bow arm or sleeve in hunting situations resulting in potentially better overall accuracy.

    Most bows today have some sort of STS on them for a reason. They work as intended. So try taking yours off. You can always put it back on.
