I am surprised that most shooting accidents occur in spring gobbler season. I would think that there are many more deer hunters than turkey hunters which means more people to mess up. Plus in NC shotguns are the only firearm allowed. Also the nature of spring gobbler hunting, is a sit and wait, and call a little, plus your sitting so low to the ground. I wonder if there is an explanation why this occurs. Do they allow rifle hunting for turkey in the spring in PA? How could someone mistake a gobbler for anything but a bird? How could one mistake a human for a turkey? Ok, I know there are a lot of jokes there, but I am being serious. That just surprised me about the statistics in PA.
